I have seen this DIY makeup bag tutorial for a while and I thought "Yeah, I can do this" and went to it after thinking that for a few months.

Saw that,

made this.

I originally had the measurements listed on the site, but my zipper was short and ended up cutting it a bit to short to really store pencils.

But it still ended up looking cool and I found a way to use some of my odd scrap fabrics.
