When Not Drawing is my blog where I talk about my crafting. While I didn't expect myself to show off my non illustrative or animated practice, my friend Helen motivated me to get my crafts archived.
Why all the sewing?
One reason why I jump into so many projects is because I inadvertently inherited my mothers mother sewing stock. My maternal grandmother was an independent seamstress, her main trade was in curtains and linens. What a stock it is!!! I have three buckets of scraps of all sizes, a few rolls of fabric, buttons, lace trimmings, elastic, patterns, curtain stuff I don't understand, etc. Its more than what I know what to do with.
I sew on two machine my mothers (name to be added later) Sewing Machine and my grandmothers (name of vintage machine to be added).
It has been real fun to think of projects and find what I can use from my grandmothers inventory, but what I can't find from grandma I buy and work away.
Reason two, its nice break from all the drawing I do.
Why don't you write your instructions?
I am sort of the worst at logging what I do for future reference or think much about reproduction. Projects I do are either by improvising or following somebodies directions. If I get a better handle of the actual practice and can tell the difference between fabrics and their intended use I might start writing step by steps down.
